The Trial of Socrates

I.F. Stone's The Trial of Socrates is a well-researched work of historical fiction. Currently it is not available on the Kindle.

Kant you read?

“Act only according to that maxim by which you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law.”

Aristotle says...

Aristotle says that moral qualities can be destroyed by excess and deficiency. What examples does he give? What examples might be used?

  • Physical strength is destroyed by too little deficiency and too much exercise.
  • Health is ruined by eating and drinking too much or too little.
  • man who shuns and fears everything and can stand up to nothing becomes a coward
  • man who is afraid of nothing becomes foolhardy
  • a man with lots of money is content - he needs nothing from anyone else and turns his back on humanity
  • a poor man must steal to meet his own needs and takes from the world.
